Bio
Ms Lalita Sharma, is an exponent of the Mewati Gharana of Hindustani classical music, a rare gem who expertly straddles both forms of Indian classical music Carnatic and Hindustani.
She received her advance training in Carnatic vocal from Sri V R Krishnan, Chennai and in Hindustani vocal from Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj.
She was the founder of Pandit Jasraj Schools in Florida, Atlanta and LA ,and founded Swaraangan a School for Hindustani classical music in Chennai.
Swaraangan is a non profit organization aimed at promoting Hindustani music and other art forms in India and abroad.
Through its outreach program, Swaraangan aims to take music to the underprivileged children. Swaraangan has successfully completed 7 years and continues to grow, under the guidance of Lalita Ji and her 28 years of teaching expertise.
She has performed extensively at concerts in Europe , Australia , UK and US. She is also a Tedx speaker and her recent talk is on “Music as a therapy for stress free life”.
