and ​Valadi Smt. Janaki Annadhanam. Daughter-in-law of Veena Exponent

‘Kalaimamani’ Smt.Kalpakam Swaminathan.

● She started learning music from her mother at a very early age. After

marriage, she entered another family steeped in musical tradition.

● She completed the ​Sangeetha Vidwan’ course and has

undergone ​‘Teacher’s Training Course’ with Distinction from Tamil Nadu

Music College

● Political Science Graduate from the University of Delhi

● Has given many concerts and individual performances in Sabhas such as

Music Academy, Krishna Gana Sabha, Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram, TTD,

Tirupati and All India Radio (AIR), TV Channels since 1979

● Has performed in various countries including USA, UK, Canada and

Singapore

● Has contributed to the propagation of Carnatic music in India and abroad by conducting many workshops across the globe.

● Has been appreciated by many Music Stalwarts for her exceptional bhava, melodic touch in her voice which enthralls her listeners from all over the globe.

● She has worked in the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society, Singapore, as a Professor of Music, and in Kalakshetra School of Fine Arts as Faculty.

● She plays the role of a conventional guru to her students, grooming young & senior talent in the field of Carnatic classical music.

● She possesses a phenomenal repertoire of compositions, and has been promoting the concept of pure, solid and serious music the world over.

● Sangeetha Rathna’ from Music Academy, Chennai, in the year 1982-1984

● Awarded the ​2004 meritorious award​ by the Maharajapuram Santhanam

● "​Musiri Subramania Iyer Prize​" for Pallavi Neraval rendition under the

auspices of ShriKrishna Gana Sabha in the Art festival 2000.

● Won several prizes in music competitions held over the years by all leading

Music Sabhas across India.

● Awarded ​Scholarship by the Government of India (Department of Culture) for

the years 1980-1982 – training under Smt. D. K. Pattammal.

● Best Artist for the year 1979-1980​’ by the Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram, under the

talent search scheme. Performed at Trichy, Nagappattinam, Mannargudi and

Karaikudi.

● Teacher’s Training Diploma in music from Tamil Nadu Government Music

College, in the year 1979, with first class and distinction in practical.

● ‘Sangeetha Vidhwan’ in Vocal from the Tamil Nadu Government Music

College, in the year 1978, with First Class and ​Distinction

● Recipient of Two Gold Medals in Musicology and Vocal from Tamil Nadu
