Navratri Concert: Kum Brinda Radhakrishnan

Bio

  • Brinda has trained in Carnatic music for more than 2 decades by illustrious Gurus Smt A.Champakavalli and A.Srividya at Sri Guruguha Gana Vidyalaya, Kolkata. 

  • Brinda has developed a passion for Art, specifically classical music early on in her life.

  • Brinda's deep connection with her school, which hails from the direct shishya lineage of Nadajyoti Muthuswami Dikshitar, strengthened further when she started assisting her guru in training young students. in 2017.

  • She is currently also working as an associate professor at the prestigious Shankar Mahadevan Academy. 

  • Her strong teaching techniques have attracted more than 50 students in a very short span of time. 

  • However, she continued to pursue her thirst for knowledge in music whereby she learnt Abhang & Namasankeerthanam and Hindustani music under the aegis of Vidwan A. Soundarajan and Vidushi Lalita Sharma, respectively.

  • From earning recognition as a vocalist herself to nurturing her students with utmost patience and commitment, Brinda has seen a wide spectrum of success

  • She was the recipient of a scholarship (2004-12) from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, Ministry of Culture and Art, Government of India. 

  • Moreover, she has performed at esteemed sabhas such as Namasankeerthanam Vizha (Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai), Trimurti Vaibhavam (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pune), Thyaga Brahma Utsavam (Powai Fine Arts, Mumbai), Narayatheertha Utsavam (Vishakha Music Academy, Vishakhapatnam) and has also had the opportunity to perform at Raj Bhavan Kolkata in the presence of His Excellency the Governor(s) of West Bengal to name a few among others. 

  • She also runs her own institution named Sangita Vidya Prakasini. In her spare time, Brinda likes to play the Violin and also trains students to learn the instrument, sketch and practice calligraphy
